ISABELLE C. HAU | LOVE TO LEARN
Teaching
I teach a class at Stanford University called "Design to Equip Learners in Under-Resourced Communities," a class cross-listed at the Stanford Graduate School of Education and at the Stanford d.school. I am also a frequent guest speaker in other classes, such as Startup Garage class at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and Digital Learning Design Workshop at the Stanford Graduate School of Education.
This course aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to develop innovative solutions that address the challenges faced by learners in under-resourced communities. By embracing a project-based approach and fostering partnerships with local and global communities, students have the opportunity to explore and experiment with design techniques and tools, ultimately co-creating solutions that are contextually relevant and responsive.
The course provides a comprehensive exploration of human-centered design, learning sciences, digital technologies, and education entrepreneurship. Its ultimate goal is to foster effective and sustainable solutions that significantly improve the lives of learners in under-resourced communities. Students become better equipped with the necessary skills to drive meaningful change for learners in any community. Given the urgent need to address the challenges exacerbated by the pandemic, this course stands as a critical step towards creating a more just and equitable world for all.
